The latest Southwold Railway Walk is from Wenhaston to Blythburgh, on Saturday 24 May 2014, at 10:30 AM. Join us for a guided walk between Wenhaston and Halesworth, along the accessible parts of the Southwold Railway trackbed (there are some diversions).
Gather at the site of the planned Wenhaston Station, between Blyford and Wenhaston. Parking is available, through the wooden gates (please do not park on the side of the road) or, ideally, use the hourly 88A Anglian bus from Southwold or Halesworth (the 88 from Norwich and Bungay is the same bus, and each 88A bus also meets trains on the East Suffolk Line from Ipswich and Lowestoft), alighting at the Blyford Queen’s Head, and taking the short walk south over the two river bridges.
A beautiful walk through a green valley, which is at its best. See where the railway rebuild will start, enjoy the wide open spaces of Halesworth’s Millennium Green, and marvel at Halesworth station’s bizarre platform-gates.
