On a gloriously sunny Easter Saturday we were delighted that 172 visitors joined us at Steamworks. That is Oliver driving the Opel locomotive which ran splendidly all day on its new and much more suitable coal. The BVLR station canopy is not quite finished – the roof finish and dags (the pointy bits of the valance fascia) have yet to go on but at least it is watertight. It was a tight rein thing but the kitchen, a triumph of stainless steel, just got finished in time and enabled the Egg and Shovel Cafe to provide hot and cold food and drinks all day. It is open every Saturday and Bank Holiday now until the end of August. Including today!
