A real milestone weekend for the Trust. With a little help from our friends – two dozen army reservists from STRE 507 – a lot (70m) of three foot gauge track, with two sets of points, has been installed over this weekend. Sunny weather prevailed and the work was carried out with real military efficiency – they were a real joy to behold. This unit undertakes five such training exercises each year and the Trust is very grateful to them for devoting one of them to the Southwold Railway. The new track will enable us to move locos and coaches from the Engine Shed to the Southwold Station platform at the west of the site, seen in the third photograph above. Work continues soon on the Engine Shed which is scheduled to be built by Easter 2020.
