Running a heritage railway needs many people with many skills, could you be one of those people?

The roles available are varied from painting, keeping the undergrowth in check, wood work, metal work, engineering (light and heavy), maintenance and restoration of railway related items, talking to visitors on our open days, promoting our events and activities, serving visitors in our shop and café, raising funds, running trains with gauges from 9mm to 3 feet, distributing our quarterly magazine, attending events and shows elsewhere to promote the railway, the list is almost endless!

We hold weekly volunteer days each Wednesday where we gather at our site on Blyth Road in Southwold at about 10am, we break for lunch about 12:30 then carry on for as long as folk are able. We also meet with the same arrangements on the first Saturday of each month.

Our open days are usually held on a Sunday afternoon with visitors on site between 1pm and 4pm on about 15 days each year. We need more volunteers if we are to increase the number of days we open.

Of course, some roles can be undertaken from home, particularly if you are good with a keyboard and the internet.

Training and equipment are provided.

Please contact mail@southwoldrailway.co.uk or ring 01502 725422 to find out more. We look forward to meeting you.
