After the pandemic hiatus we are planning to restart volunteer days at Steamworks on a Saturday. These will initially be the first Saturday of the month commencing 5th November. We will start about 10am and finish between 3 and 4pm taking a lunch break around 12:30. Interested parties are welcome to join us even if only for a short time.
Volunteers need to be members for insurance purposes though we would be happy to sign you up on the day. Stout footwear must be worn, preferably safety boots. Inside and outside projects are on the “to do” list but bear in mind there is no heating in our buildings.
There is no need to pre book, just come down and we will give you an introduction to the site and the work we currently have underway.
In addition to track laying and wood work projects there are always things to paint, weeds to pull, brass to polish, rolling stock to maintain… the list is almost endless!
We would also be pleased to hear from folk who are interested in jobs on days when we have the public on site which include staffing the cafe and shop, supervising our displays and running the trains (after training).
