The Southwold Railway Travel Club

The SR Travel Club is an informal group of SRT members who are interested in travelling by rail both overseas and more locally.

Some of our members are keen rail travellers and we are building an online photo album to record some of these journeys. David Smith launches this feature with a fascinating account of his recent tour of Switzerland by rail.

Trips being considered include:

• London to Vladivostok by train - 7,000 miles.
• A visit to the Isle of Man which has the only other 3' gauge line in the UK,
• A journey on the Settle to Carlisle line,
• Vorarlberg Integrated Transport in Austria - where buses, trains and cable cars all work together,
• The Glacier Express in Switzerland,
• The Canadian - right across Canada from Vancouver to Toronto,
• The Darjeeling Railway from Calcutta to Simla,
• London to Istanbul by train,

In particular we are interested in hearing from members who would like to help organise a trip and this can be either in UK, Europe or further afield.
