Opened in 1903, this line still operates two of the original steam locomotives. It served the local farming communities until closure in 1965, but re-opened as a tourist line in 1963 over most of the original route. [ Website ] Leiston Works Railway Working to relay track between the Long Shop Museum (formerly 'Town Works') and the former 'Station (or Top) Works by Leiston Station on the branch to Aldeburgh. The shunting engine SIRAPITE (used from 1929-1962) has recently been fully restored to its former glory. [ Website ] Bridgnorth Cliff Railway Britain's oldest inland cliff railway and England's only inland passenger-carrying funicular is owned by the Tipping family, who live in and around Southwold and Halesworth. Bridgnorth Cliff Railway is the oldest and steepest funicular in the country with one of the finest views in Shropshire, and has been transporting people up and down the sandstone cliff that separates the town since 1892.
